Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions. May collect and analyze data and develop decision support software, service, or products. May develop and supply optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.
Education and Experience Requirements
Proposed personnel shall have a degree in Operations Research or Industrial Engineering or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Experience levels for analysts shall be classified using the definitions below.
- Junior Operational Research Analyst: Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree plus at least 3 years of experience;
- Mid Operational Research Analyst: Master’s degree plus at least 3 years of experience or PhD;
- Senior Operational Research Analyst: PhD with 3-5 years of experience or Master’s degree with 10-12 years of experience.
